need some quick advice

Yea, there is nothing wrong in getting a quad core for a general computer with his needs. I just listed the best bang for your buck. It will be more future proof and he'll be happy with it.

I've been cruising on this socket 939 for four years thus far and no problems keeping up. But, if he wants a quad, give him a quad. Waste of money in my eyes, but the customer (or uncle) is always right.
