Currently my system specs are as follow:

Intel D865glc motherboard with 800mhz fsb and 512kb L2 Cache
Pentium 2.4ghz CPU
2x512mb 333mhz Kingston memory
powercolor 256 radeon 9550 video card
Atapi dvd dual 16x4x12
samsung cd-r/rw
150 gb hdd
microsoft xp home sp2

I am able to run battlefield 2 on high graphic setting and get a steady 60 fps which is good enough for me. I am really into this game Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter, I just tried out the demo. But in order for it to run good on my system I have to run it on lowest graphic setting. I dont have the money right now to go out and buy a new motherboard with a pcie slot and a dual core processor and all that sweet stuff I wish I had so I wanna upgrade my current computer to get me through at least another year, maybe year and a half of gaming. Any suggestions on what I could do would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Take stock of these three factors:

CPU - Maybe a 3GHz or higher processor: (Assuming its a skt478)

RAM - 2 x 1GB PC3200

GPU - Check out the 6600 AGP series cards from Nvidia:

There are 7600 series cards but then it means more $:

Your RAM @ 2 x 512Mb is pretty much the minimum a gaming PC should have.

You could try to OC your processor, unless you have an OEM PC. OEM PC's are much harder (if at all) to get a decent OC boost.

I realize that you don't have the $ for a PCI-E MoBo. That is a form-factor you should consider updating in the next 12 months as AGP has reached "end of life".

Hope that this helps.

I took your advice and checked out them cards. I found one similar I think to the 6600 agp you were talkin about from a place located close to me. http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=010823&cid=999.821

do ya think If I put that in my system with another gig of ram that would be a suffiencient upgrade to get me on games like half life 2 and ghost recon advance warfighter, Doom 3, etc, and upcoming titles for the next year and a bit.

oh I also know what ya sayin about overclocking but im not too familiar with that and would probably mess somethin up. When I did a test on my comp it said I had 2.39 ghz cpu rated at 3.59 does that mean its overclocked already. IDK maybe dumb question
