need a new motherboard ASAP

My motherboard is acting goofy and I would like to get a replacement asap, but without a bunch of research I don't know what my best choice is.

I need it to work with an Athlon 64, 939 chipset processor and I am looking at Abit and Asus.

Out of the available mb's I am clueless as to what difference the chipsets make to me.

ATI vs NVIDIA vs SIS vs VIA : I am not exactly sure what any of these mean, or what makes one different from the rest. My current MB is VIA, but I haven't had the best luck with it either.

Any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated as I am losing business without my PC.

I would go to newegg and try to stick with a NVIDIA nForce 4 chipset. Would help to know what the rest of your setup is, but this is a great mobo...
