Default Need help upgrading/building

i bought a dell 3 years ago, and it just isn't useable for games anymore so i want to upgrade. is it possible to buy a new case, motherboard, and video card, while still keeping my RAM, soundcard, 2 hard drives, and my optical drives?

and does anyone know of an affordable motherboard/processor combonation that puts out no less then 3.0GHz?

thanks in advance for replies

AMD 3000+ runs at 1.8 ghz and is comparable to a P4 3.0 ghz. GHz mean NOTHING anymore.

Its not worth it to keep anything dell, not to mention ull probably need a new PSU and Case. but ya you can keep RAM, and Drives.

Bingo. Couldn't be more true.

You can probably keep the hdd's and i guess the soundcard (it's not integrated into the mobo? That's kinda odd ), and probably the RAM depending on what it is.

What's your budget? =/

Psu? Look at AMD.
Mobo? Look at mSI.
Gfx card? Maybe an asus 7800gtx, if it's not too much of a budget breaker

If you wanna see what rigs are good for gaming though, just look at some of the people on here; they have their setup in their sigs. That's how I try to look where to upgrade , and they know their stuff, so you can hardly go wrong by followin their example
