i have a limit of about 800$ for comp, lcd, keyboard, and speakers

want i am looking for in the comp are:

dvd/cd burner
1gb ram
100+gb hard drive
3.0 ghz processor
good video card
good motherboard
and a transflash card slot

could someone list some good parts that are cheap and would fit my budget or just show me a prebuilt comp to buy

thanks!

do you have a need for a Pentium? you could probably build a cheaper system if you used AMD.

an AMD 3000+ which basically performs on par and in some cases a little higher than a 3.0ghz p4

and a p4

could you list your uses for this computer so people can help pick out the most appropriate parts? if there is any chance you'll be gaming which i assume you will as you're after a decent graphics card you will hate yourself if you don't go with AMD.

heres a motherboard if you go with AMD:

memory:

HDD:

Burner:

Video Card:

Monitor:

you can figure out the rest. do you really need an LCD screen right now or do you have a monitor you could live with for the moment? because that monitor makes prices a little tight. i'm tired but if i did my math right (assuming you go with the AMD) that leaves you with around $60 for speakers, keyboard and case but i didn't add up delivery costs.

dont need the pentium...just want a fast decent comp thats not gonna break in 5 years like my past one just did...thank you so much for the help! and yes it will be used for gaming. and all those parts are compatiable and good so itll last a long time?

will this work with doom 3 cause with my last computer doom 3 wouldnt work cause i didnt have the right video card or chipset or something?

doom needs An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better

are we good with that setup?

thanks again!
