well i am building a new computer piecing together every part 1 by 1.
i give a week or 2 on every part considering everything.
when i am really stuck i turn to others for help and advice.
right now my focus is specificaly RAM

motherboard: gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 (rev 2)
CPU: i7 950

here is the main details of what i want:
DDR3 6gb (2gbX3) 1600

other then that i really dont know what to get or what i need
Dont know which companies are better then others,
if there is anything more specific i need to know,
even on the subject of heatsinks i am completly unsure of.

in short of all the the above i am drowning here, please help me out.

thanks in advance
tom

"ddr3" and "3x2gb" is basically what you want to look for, for an x58 system.

other things to look for are speed and latency, where you try to get the highest speed with the lowest latency for the best performance.

this would be a good kit
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM

this would be a pretty high performance kit (i don't think they sell this anymore, so i could only find a pic of it as an example)

ddr3 2000 cas7 (very nice , very expensive :()
