Need heatsink suggestions for Opteron 146

Hi All,

After visiting and reading thread at many boards, I found my mobo, MSI-K8NGM2-FID, support Opteron 100 series exactly.
Could anyone let me know the appropriate heatsink and fan for using with Opteron146 if I want to buy from this site;

Thanks in advance.

it's s939 so any HSF that says it is compatable with s939. you could get a TT big typhoon or some massive zalman cooler

Here are the cheapest opteron (939) as I found;

1.Opteron 144
- PIB = $155.66 ; http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductD...ourceID=k15506
- Retail with heatsink/fan = $159 ; http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=BA22046

2.Opteron 146
- PIB = $171.44 + S&H ; http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductD...urceID=k15506.
- Retail with heatsink/fan = $181+8 = $189 ; http://www.atacom.com/program/print_...UX_AK8S_14_1J.
(I ordered this item but they inform me they sold out and will available in the next 2 weeks).

3.Opteron 148
- PIB = $207.63 + S&H ; http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merch...&AFFIL=pg&NR=1 .
- Retail Box with heatsink/fan = $236.99 + S&H ; http://www.chiefvalue.com/app/produc...ocessors%20PC.

Which one has a highest benefit/cost ratio? and please give me a links of Heatsink/Fan which fit for that cpu choosen.

Thanks in advance.

in other words bang for buck lol. i would say the 146. just look for s939 coolers on newegg or some other site, perhaps the site of a local pc retailer.

Depends on how much money you want to spend on the heatsink, 10-*** dollars. You might also want to pick up a tube of AS5 :D

lol, pzero's right if you're going for an aftermarket cooler definitely make sure to get some AS5 while you're at it. i would reccomend a TT cooler, the Big Typhoon if you're looking at the more expensive air coolers or their mid range coolers are pretty good too.

I'm looking for mid range air cooler. Please let me know some models, PZEROFGH, nitestick . $20-30 will be fine for me. I've no idea :(

Thank you.
