I was wondering if i could get some help on building a computer. It was gona be used for World of warcraft, Internet surfing, music, and movies.

Recommended Specifications for WoW are:

* Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+
*1GB RAM
* 64 MB VRAM 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability

and thats all they tell me that i dont know about

so yeah. i would need help building this computer for less the 400$. if it cant be done then thats ok. Just need it for WoW. cuz everything else should be minimal.
ok ty

do u have speakers, a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and a surge protector of some kind, because if you do its possible but a computer with a good lcd speakers, mouse, keyboard and surge protection is about 800-1000.

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 w/onboard GeForce 6100
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane
RAM - 1GB G. Skill DDR2-800
Power supply - FSP Group (Fortron Source) 400W
Hard drive - WD 160GB hard drive
Optical drive - Sony NEC Optiarc DVD Burner

This comes to $316.94, and easily meets the requirements. Now theres no graphic card. It's using the onboard video chipset, from the motherboard. I think it should suffice to play WoW. Not on high settings though. You can go lower on the hard drive and optical drive, if you want. Also keep in mind, this is just for the computer tower. No keyboard, mouse, monitor, or OS. Theres also no case. I thought, I would leave that up to you, to choose.

Heres an 80GB hard for about $11 less:
Western Digital 80GB Hard Drive
...but for $11 more dollars, getting you 160GB of space, it's double the space and not double the costs. So that's a bargain.

If you're not going to be burning and CDs or DVDs, then go with this $17.99 DVD-ROM drive:
Sony DVD-ROM

I just built a computer for my friend, total parts cost was 240 bucks for the entire build shipped. I don't remember exactly what parts, but I know it was a mobile sempron 2800+, some cheap micro atx board, 512 ddr, a geforce 6200, lite on dvd burner, 80 gig hdd, case with stock psu (for a rig this cheap, no need for a big psu), and it runs quite a few up to date games and does everything fairly well.

lol...law...a prescott!?!
just shove some hot coals in a case lol...and find me some pork chops...!
b1g's build is good, but the onboard graphics..meh we try to stay away from that. you should save more money and build a computer that will play at med-high settings. its like buying a car...why pay for something that you do not want and will grow tired of in three months???
take b1g's build, substitute this mobo:
Newegg.com - ABIT KN9 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
same money as the gigabyte and a good mobo i have one...
and then use this gcard:
pny 7300gt
Newegg.com - PNY VCG7300GXPB GeForce 7300GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
or better yet for 30 bucks more....
evga 7600gt
Newegg.com - EVGA 256-P2-N554-AX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
the first one will keep you under 400, the second will take you a little over. the second is worth it.
although if the only game you play is WoW, the first should give you decent frames.

These people are only listing cpu/mb/ram

Do you need a case, cd drives, and a hard drive as well?

Here's something I JUST made up for a thread on the ubuntu forums...

Gaming machine prolly need a better cpu/mb... this was on a linux forum, gaming is not much of a concern ;)

Btw, I fully expect my choices to be blown to smithereens by gamers...I know zero about gaming or video cards...I'm a linux geek ;)

^^huh?^^
actually, my suggestions paired with b1gapl's include everything but the case...oh, and the 8 dollar kb and mouse lol...
dude, here's the first blown to smithereens part...its retarded to buy a sempron (lol a SOCKET 754 SEMPRON no less) for 100 dollars when you can buy an am2 x2 3600 for 60.
unless you dont want to change mobos...then it would make sense. kinda.
