Lightbulb My Proposed Setup!!!

Hey Guys! I'm a complete newbie to PC Building but I do like to tinker and stuff but anyways I've been researching for a while and heres what I've decided on....

- Asus Vintage AH1 Barebones (already have this)

Heres My Shopping List From Tekheads.co.uk.....

-605089 Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM £52.00

-605230 Corsair ValueSelect 1GB PC3200 DDR400 In stock: 4 £53.95 £53.95

-604759 AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 90nm (939 Pin) - Retail **Special Offer** £56.00

-605412 Sony DWG-120 16x DL DVD±R/±RW/RAM Black - OEM £21.27

-602649 Sony 16X DVD-ROM Black - OEM £11.87

-601406 Generic 56k PCI V.92 Modem Retail £4.99 (we dont have broadband at home YET!)

-600287 Vantec Rounded Cable Floppy Black 450mm

-600374 Akasa Rounded Cable ATA133 Black 450mm

-605074 Akasa 80mm Crystal Blue Fan 4 Blue LEDs

Including Shipping and VAT this comes to about €420 which is stretching my budget as much as I can really. Will it work though? Any thoughts/suggestions? I think this case will allow me to upgrade Video/RAM/Sound etc without too much bother!

Also when we do get broadband I was wondering if I can connect to this pc via the internet adaptor then use pci wireless card as an access point to share the connection with my laptop?

Happy Commenting lol! Trev

There ya go!

Mostly I'll be doing CAD work mostly 2d which is not too heavy except when files get large, site layouts that sorta thing, a bit of 3d stuff every so often. A little bit of photoshop, a lot of web surfing.
The motherboard does have on board graphics, will probs upgrade eventually depending on how good they are.
Probably also gonna get XP pro x64 and dual boot it with Mepis.

i don't see how you've accumulated 420 pounds.. unless that barebones was 200...
