Default My New PC

CASE: Kingwin KT-424 Aluminum case with side window (http://www.xoxide.com/kiktb.html)
POWER SUPPLY: ASPIRE ATX-AS 520 watts
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD
PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon 64 4000+
MEMORY: CORSAIR XMS 2gb DDR 400 (PC 3200)
VIDEO CARD: eVGA Geforce 7800GTX 256mb GDDR3 PCI Express
HARD DRIVE: Western Digital Caviar 250GB 7200RPM
OPTICAL DRIVE: LITE-ON DVD, CD-R
MONITER: SAMSUNG Black 19inch 4ms LCD
+ a $10 floppy drive

With shipping this PC was right around $2000. All parts from www.newegg.com, except for the case.

I'm simply looking for any advice anyone has to get more bang for the buck. I'm willing to sacrifice performance in some area's in order to put more money in other areas.

Welcome to TF

Do you really need a floppy? You could just use a USB stick. Maybe look into a new PSU like antec, enermax, fortron, ocz, pc power & cooling.
Other than that I think the set-up looks very good.

I personally think you could do much better with the case, I'm presuming you haven't already ordered, so I would go with maybe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119082
And just take out the psu it comes with
but it's just preferance.
Are you going to be ocing?
Unless you'll be benchmarking/want to see the 10+fps in games, I would just stick with a 7800GT, but that's just me.
Again, personal, but I would go with either an msi or dfi high end board, they are more durable and reliable.
Where's your soundcard?
How much is that monitor?

Judging by that motherboard, you arent doing much for overclocking, so I suggest getting rid of that XMS memory, and getting some ValueRAM from Kingston, Corsair, etc. ValueRAM performs equally to expensive RAM unless you are overclocking, and it is a heck of a lot cheaper. Have a look at my guide on RAM for some more info.

The 4ms LCD is a little excessive. If you went to 8ms, you would not likely notice a difference in perfomance, but will surely notice a price differnce.

Since you are getting an SLi mobo, you could get 2x 7800GTs if you save money by following my previous suggestions

Alright to try and answer a few questions:
No I don't have intentions of oc'ing this machine.
Cooling this PC will be 3 stock fans on the case, 2 120mm, and 1 80 mm. I think this should sufice, although I'm not set on this case, I'm very open to suggestions.
No soundcard, I will simply be using a USB stereo headset, and frankly I don't think I'd notice a difference between a soundcard and onboard.
The moniter is roughly $360, and I'm looking into CRT's, and even 17in LCD's. There wasn't a real significant price difference between 8 and 4ms.

I'm also looking into putting duel 7800GT's, instead of 1 GTX.

Alright that PSU isn't very good so i'd suggest switching it out with an Antec, OCZ, or Fortron. I've got this one and it is flawless. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104155
As for ram, since you're not overclocking, no need for that expensive XMS ram. Any old value ram from OCZ, Corsair, or Kingston will do. Don't go SLI. The price you pay for the performance increase you get it definitely not worth it. I'd get 1 7800GT, it is the perfect card and is at a great price. http://techist.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79791
If you don't believe me about the whole SLI is a waste of money thing, check that link out.

Woops sorry forgot to mention that a case is personal preference, but that case you've chosed is WAAAAAY overpriced. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133132
You can get that case for cheaper after rebate and i think you should just check out your options. www.newegg.com there are plenty of cases that aren't overpriced at that site.
