According to Tom's Hardware benchmarks, Phenom 9600 performs 13.5% slower than Q6600 on average
Click here to see Tom's Hardware review

Q6600 is cheaper as well

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 95W G0 Stepping (Retail 775) - Aria Technology

Mobo:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R iP35 Express (775) Motherboard - Aria Technology

Memory:
Corsair 4GB PC2-6400 C5 XMS2 (2x2GB) - Aria Technology

HDD:
500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2 32MB ST3500320AS 7200RPM - Aria Technology

GPU:
Asus Extreme 8800GT 512MB PCI-E - Aria Technology

8800GT performs better than HD2900XT and is much cheaper

I dont thisnk that there are any 8800GT in stock on that website (may be wrong). On the other hand, the are 6 3850s, they are still very able cards.

they are in stock but looking at that info from toms hardwear i am leaning towards a Q6600 on OC

just looking at the fps on the graphics cards, it looks like for 100 more then what i was going to pay for that 1 card i can sli 2 GT cards and get 107 fps minimum before OC

This is sort of off topic, but when you guys post a response to anyone building a new PC, you always suggest one big hdd. Is it not better to have one really fast boot drive and then a slower storage? What are the downsides to that, and what are the upsides? What about two smaller ones in RAID?

RAID= 2x more likely to lose all data. Speed difference hardly noticeable. Harder to set up.
