is this a good laptop?

Samsung R40 T2050
Intel Core Duo T2050 1.66Ghz
80GB Hard Disk
8x DVD+/-RW
XP Home
15.4" Widescreen

$1,151.28 (for the yanks!)

It all looks good but I dont know anything about laptop processors,

Looks alright. Depends on what it's going to be used for. But I think you can get a better laptop for that money. I saw Core 2 Duo processors for that money, along with 1gb DDR2 ram

Seems overpriced and a tad antiquated (unless it has discrete graphics, or unless Samsung notebooks are incredibly durable like ToughBooks). Here in the States, you can get a well equipped HP DV65000T (Santa Rosa, C2D T7100 1.8GHz, 15.4", X3100 graphics, 2GB RAM, Webcam, Mic, Fingerprint Reader, Radiance Finish, Remote, 120GB 5400RPM SATA HDD, DL DVD+-RW) for the same price.

he can only really get one from this shop (dnt ask why) and i said it would be better to get the samsung as he other one he was looking at has 512mb ram with vista premium, i thought it would be slow
