Default my first build! please advise...

hello everyone. i have been reading a lot of the posts on this site for info. i am glad to have you guys around to review my potential set up here. my old pc has just bit the dust... i will recover my 250G HD, dvd rom, sound card, and a few other misc. items...

this is a big investment for me, and i would love to have someone tell me that i could do this cheaper. lol.

i use my pc for music processing (sometimes running up to fourty tracks simultaneously), and some mild (up until now) gaming. i would like to get more into online gaming in the near future...

so here it is! if there is something missing, please let me know. thank you all in advance for the feedback.

I would suggest AMD for gaming especially for Dual core. You can't put a LGA 775 CPU into a socket 478 motherboard. So you need to get a different motherboard/CPU anyway(RAM will be DDR or DDR2 for 775 and DDR for 478).

Currently yes, however soon the intel Conroe CPUs will be released, and I would highely reccomend one of those.

Get this instead - remember you need 2 sticks in order to run dual channel or you will loose about half of the memory bandwidth.

The CPU comes with a HS/Fan but its extremely loud due to the extreme amount of heat this CPU produces.

So you may want to pick one up like this:
