Motherboard upgrade - no experience

Oh! (forehead slap) You reminded me! I never had this sound until after one night when we were having a thudnerstorm. It was bizarre: the power turned on, then off, then on, then off...and at that point in time, my computer had no bttery back-up (it now does).

I bet that's an important piece to the puzzle!



Unfortunately, right now I can't get my computer to start, so I can't look up the voltage at the moment...
