motherboard upgrade

i have been slowley rebuilding my computer. i bought a ultra case w/ new hard drive, evga 9800 gtx video card 750 watt power supply and zero therm cpu cooler. so here is my question what is a good mother board to get? i have a low end asus, but the cpu cooler does not fit and so i need a mother board that will fit my cpu cooler and is good for gaming. the cpu cooler i have is longer and rectangled shapped and my new one is square shapped on the base where it mounts to the motherboard. looking to spend any where from 150 to 300 please ne suggestions will help
