Default Which monitor do you think would be a good choice?

AOC 22" 2217V Widescreen LCD Monitor 1680 x 1050 10,000:1 22" Wid
  • AOC 22" 2217V Widescreen LCD Monitor
  • 10,000:1 Contrast Ratio
  • 1680x1050 Resolution
  • 5ms Response Time
  • VGA & DVI-D with HDCP Inputs
  • 1-Year Limited Warranty
  • Price: $179.99

Gateway - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HD Monitor - HD2201
  • Ultrafast 5 ms response time
  • UltraContrast 2000:1 contrast ratio; 300 cd/m brightness
  • 1680 x 1050 maximum resolution; 160 horizontal and vertical viewing angles
  • Digital DVI input supports up to 720p content; standard analog VGA input; HDMI input for connecting HD components
  • 16:10 aspect ratio for a cinematic widescreen viewing experience
  • Displays up to 16.7 million colors
  • Price: $240 (in my local BestBuy store)

AOC is significantly cheaper, but I'm reluctant to buy it because I haven't seen any reviews of it, and the manufacture seems obscure to me. By the way, I'm a casual gamer, so the quality of the display is important to me.

I would appreciate your reply. Thanks!

Of the two the AOC one is probably better because of the higher contrast ratio. But I'm not familiar with that brand so...I don't know. This is a good deal though:
Newegg.com - ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen 16:9 Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 12000 : 1) Built in Speakers - LCD Monitors

Supports 1080P, 2ms response, and has HDMI hookups. I'd go for the Asus, their monitors are nice and it has free shipping .

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it":
"Please take the chairs away. I don't like them. The big one is staring at me and that short one is being very droll."

Well you can't really compare contrast ratios between brands, each brand has their own way of rating their own contrasts. The gateway might very well look better.

Intel Core i3 540
4 GB DDR3-1600 memory
ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows Vista Business x64
