power supply 550 watts

does it have any flaws for a general purpose pc with light gaming

tell me wat shud be replaced .....................???

Where do you live? Depending where, you should buy from newegg.com if you can. And a nice P43 or P45 chipset would be a better choice for a motherboard.

He could always go with a X3 720/TA790GX 128M combo, it's very nice. :] I'd recommend this build with that budget:

This build is $618 before mail in rebates. The Q9400 is significantly faster than the x3 720 and while the HD 4670 is slower than a HD 4850 it is still plenty fast for light gaming.

+1, for a light gaming rig you should put enough cash in for a midrange video card, and put everything else in for the rest of the system. He may not be gaming, but the speed of the cpu and the amount of ram will give him the muscle to do other non gaming things.
