For the most part, dell systems are "cheap" and as many people say, you get what you pay for. Dell has lots of overhead, it may cost you less, but in return you are getting an inferior system with inferior components. Dell uses the lowest cost components they can get their hands on. Also, be VERY careful, as dell likes to sell their low priced systems as refurbished, and those usually only carry a 3-6 month warranty.
BTW, the system in my sig cost me under 900 bucks, although i already had the hard drives and video card.
