Default Memory upgrade question for Inspiron 6000 laptop.

I wanted to know if the kingston KVR533D2S4/512 is also compatible with the inspiron 6000? I am asking because there is another model Kingston KTD-INSP6000A/512 thats made especially for dell laptops but it costs 10 bucks more. Anyone tried these?

IIRC, you have to buy Dell-brand memory for some Dells. I'm not sure about your specific model, but i think you can get away with non-Dell brand. call up cust. service and ask

Intel E8400 @ 3.78ghz
8gb (4x2gb) G.SKILL DDR2 1600 @ 420mhz, 5-5-5-12
ASrock P43Twins1600 (hates RAM dividers)
WD Caviar 500gb + 250gb hdd, 32mb cache
eVGA 7900gs @ 585/1700mhz
OCZ GameXStream 600w PSU
Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
Cooler Master Centurion 5 case

Dell DOES NOT use proprietary RAM as of the last time I checked. You just need to check the Dell website to see what kind of RAM it uses, and then feel free to go to Newegg or somewhere else and buy RAM for it.
