Hey I've got a question here. I was looking to upgrade memory. right now i've got one 512 kb 184 pin DDR SDRAM PC2700. I was looking on the motherboard specs found http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ory&product=443740&dest_page=prodinfoCategory
<----there. Then I looked at the product specs for my whole pc.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ory&product=443740&dest_page=prodinfoCategory
<---- there. Now the thing that conflicts is that the motherboard specs say I can have 2GB(2X 1gb sticks), but with the comment that "(PC manufacturer's maximum memory may differ)"
Now when I look at the product specs, it says that the max allowed is 1gb (VIA 2 512 MB Sticks). Wouldn't it be possible to throw two 1gb sticks in there if the motherboard accepts it? I can't seem to understand how if the motherboard accepts it why wouldnt my whole PC? If that is the case then does anyone know why?

Thanks!

Dont quote me on this but it may be that the note about the motherboard's maximum memory may differ with manufactrers so if a manufacturer only offers a certain amount of ram even though the board can support more so theyre covering themselves from any damage caused by third party Ram lol i dont know whether that makes sence but its the only plausible explanation i can think of, but as I said dont trust me as Ive only been on here for a couple of weeks.

Matt
