Hi, I need help with my memory. I'm boing to buy 3 Ram Sticks. 2 of which are 512 mb, and 1 that is 512 mb. If put in the 512 into a dual channel does the other channel have to be in use too? or can i just have 3 of the sticks in out of the 4 slots? would that be okay? plz help. ty

It would be ok to have the 3 sticks in, out of 4 slots. But they won't run in dual channel mode. I think 2 x 512s in dual channel is faster than 3 x 512 not running in dual channel mode.

ok thnx, but do you just put the 2 sticks in the same colored slots? like put both of the sticks in the 2 blue slots?

That's how it usually is, to run in dual channel. But I would also check your motherboard manual for the correct configuration.

which motherboard do you have? you can run dual channel with two sticks in the right RAM slots. it would run faster as dual channel with 2x512mb as opposed to 3x512mb not in dual channel.
