Default Is this memory compatible?

Does anyone know if this memory is compatible with Dell Dimension 4600? I can't seem to find a good site online to ensure this.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB (2 x 256MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Thanks for help.

it depends on the specs of your dell.

It probably is though...but why get 512 worth in two sticks when most dells come with only 2 slots? Get this single stick as it's betetr anyway.

I believe the Dell 4600 has to be upgraded in pairs. That's what I read. There are four slots, currently 2 are taken. So I think upgrade has to also be pairs.....

According to the specs, the Dell Dimension 4600 only has 2 slots.

But this website says 4600 has "4 sockets". Doesn't that mean 4 slots for memory? Here's the link:

Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for:

B1, where do you see only the 2 slots?

Great. Thanks. Guess that memory is good then. Good price too. $50 to upgrade from 256 to 768. Should be a nice increase.....

Why not just get 2x512 to make it a gig. It's not that much more:
Newegg.com - pqi POWER Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

OK, then obvious question: One is DDR400? One is DDR333? What does that mean?

Once is PC2700 vs PC3200, does this make any difference?

I see the price is close, but do those spec differences effect performance?
