Memory change=no monitor

Hey again. I bought new memory for a system I got but when I put it in and tried to start up my computer, the monitor wouldnt come on. I've triple checked all the connections in the computer and nothings wrong. tried putting the old memory back in and still didnt work. Any Ideas of why this is occuring are welcome.

Here are the system specs:

CPU - AMD Anthlon 64 3400+, 2.4GHz
Video Card - Radeon 9600 All-In-Wonder, 128MB
Motherboard - Asus M8S-MX
Hard Drives - 2, 80gb Western Digital

New Memory - 1GB Corsair XMS
Old Memory - 512mb Hynix

something similar happened when i put in my dvd burner, take out & put the video card back in, thats what worked for me

reseat the graphics card. if that doesn't work reset CMOS. any beep codes? make sure the ram is in the correct slots. try one stick, then try it in each slot if nothing else works. check the obvious like the monitor cable and power.
