Default Media center computer video card?

I am planning on putting together a media center computer for my living room in the near future and am looking for ideas as to what video card would be best for a resolution of 720p widescreen?

actaully, either dvi->HMDI or straight DVI would be an option.

Okay, I would reccomend an 8500 or 8600GT. Get the 8600GT if your planning to do gaming, but if not, just go with the 8500.

bad choice the hd encoder chip on the 85/600's doesn't work effectively getting a 7 series would be better or an ati chip

So in theory something like a x1950 or 7900 series would still provide a decent image on a 37" screen? Honestly I am not concerned with high def atm since it will be quite some time before I have a high def player (not until next year at best).
