I just need it to run faster for running multiple, simple applications like: Word, Excel, MSN, IE, Firefox, AIM, etc.
I would say upgrade my RAM, but would this really make it a lot faster? Most of the times I check the available RAM in the task manager, it says over 100000K. I'm pretty sure that putting more RAM in will not load Windows faster (I've tested it).
I have another computer that is running on a celeron 2.0ghz. I have 2 hard drives in it, and have devoted 1 of them to storing only Windows and several applications. It seems like it runs pretty fast, and maybe even loads faster than my newer computer, which has only 1 HD. My newer computer (the one that I want to upgrade) has a 80gb HD, with 20gb free. Would getting a second hard drive, and putting Windows on that, make Windows run faster?
What should I do first to make my computer run faster?
