I'm looking to buy a cheap used laptop for wireless web browsing, and word processing.
So I'm wondering what would the performance comparisons between a
333MHz PowerBook running OS X compare to a 500MHz or so PC running XP?
Both with 128MB of ram.

That's crappy.

@Deathawk: Why does your avatar say "Really Poor"? Are you poor?

I'm not poor, I'm buying a Cavalier with no heating system soon. The engine is mechanically perfect though, with $2000 spent on the vechicle :D

Yes, I am relatively poor to the average member on TF :(

Wow! These forums are helpful!

Thanks macdude425 for the only straight answer.

i agree with macdude. older macs can run OSX fairly well. go with 10.1 or 10.2 and upgrade the ram a tad, 256 or 512 if it doesn't cost too much and you will be fine. Is is a Lombard Pismo or wall street btw? the Pismos are the best amd they have more ports and i think they have a higher ram ceiling than the wall street or Lombard.

The mac would run better than the pc so you may as well get that. Upgrade the ram if you can too, that'll make a pretty nice surfing/typing laptop.
