Default Looking for opinions of this parts list

Please review this parts list for a inexpensive computer. I'll be using the PSU, case and DVD burner from my old system.

CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors $57

MB: GIGABYTE GA-MA69VM-S2 AM2
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-MA69VM-S2 AM2 AMD 690V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards $65

OR
ASUS M2A-VM AM2 AMD 690G Micro ATX
Newegg.com - ASUS M2A-VM AM2 AMD 690G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards $70

MEM:CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory $29 (after rebates)

I recently purchased a Seagate 500GB Sata Drive

Computer will be used for everything except games. I work with photo's and/or have multiple programs running.

I don't have much available cash for a build right now but anything has got to be better than my ancient (9 yr.old) system.

Thanks in advance

i'm, on an expert on PSU's but if the PSU your using is from your ancient system, it might not be able to power that stuff.

Thanks for the reminder, I hadn't thought to check. The PSU output is 380 watts.
Various components of the old system have been ungraded over the years, including the PSU.

You know the Brand Name and PSU Model? because Watts are a highly unreliable way to tell if its good or not

Zalman ZM400B-APS;
I just figured out that the new board uses a 24 pin power connector and my current PSU is a 20 pin

That PSU has a 20+4 Pin connector, so just find the other 4pins, and connect them together

how do they suck btw?

690G is better than the 690V
ASUS: Onboard DVI, 8GB, 690G
Gigabyte: 16GB ram, slightly more USBs, 690V

Newegg got some nice open box deals:
Newegg.com - Open Box: MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital AM2 AMD 690G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
or
Newegg.com - Open Box: MSI K9AGM3-FIH AM2 AMD 690G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
matx version.

However, AM2+ motherboard is the way to go:
Newegg.com - Open Box: ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

More future proof and when you gots the money, go for phenom x2, x3, x4 or w/e they got in the future. Plus, the 780G chipset is far superior compared to its predecessor

Well in terms of overclocking potential, they aren't great (if at all)

but I'd get the AM2+ anyways, its more future oriented, plus if you get a Phenom sooner or later, you have more options with it
