This is what I was able to find so far.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 - Retail $130
MOBO: MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 $77
CD/DVD: LITE-ON CD-RW/DVD-ROM $32
HD:WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA150$57.50
RAM:CORSAIR ValueSelect$84
CASE:Linkworld$36
VID CARD: will have a Geforce 6600 soon
OS: Win xp Not sure where to get that yet
PSU: ??

Total so far is $416.50 shipped
Would like to stay in $500 range but still need a psu and os.
Since this is my 1st build is there anything i left out or need to think about? Any inputs would sure help me out. Thanks

Shop around, I got my 1gb(2x512) Kingston Hyper X for 120 dollars, they were selling OCZ's at the same price at Fry's. (because if you get Valuselect ram you won't be able to OC it a lot and you will notice some performance difference since you are running a pretty low end system.

IMO the case is ugly and is probably going to have bad cooling, my friend has a similar case and it wasn't good at all. I suggest getting a case with less fancy stuff on it, something simple like a Ultra Mid Tower or a Coolermaster centurion(sp?).

I agree check here for some great cases: www.xoxide.com

Just in my opinion: "You get for what you pay" like someone said in a topic not long ago. Don't go cheap because you got a budget but either don't go high in prices because of the budget, get somethig good in price and quality both are important factors when considering buying something so it can last for a while :)
