LCD Contrast

Hey guys i'm looking to buy a 19" LCD monitor sometime in the near future, any suggestions? BTW, i was wondering, is it better to have a high contrast ratio such as 1000:1, or a low one, such as 500:1. Thanks for the help!

I seen a 19" LCD monitor at walmart for $300.00. Heard it was pretty nice to. But I think that was 500:1
