Default Laptops Buying For Student Need Advise

Ok guys,
I would like your help. Ok, so basically I've pretty much reached a stopping point where I just still have no idea what to get as far as laptops...There seem to be too many options.

Again something that I would like:

13-14" Screen
1 GB Ram (Minimum) (2 GB preferred)
120+ GB Hard drive
Windows Vista Home Edition
DVD RW
Microsoft Word Package 2007 Student Edition
Built in Web-Cam
Something pretty portable as I would take it to almost every class with me; also something pretty tough as it will need to withstand the abuse of college

I have $1,000 to spend, which would include the word package, vista, and a printer.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help!
