Well, for christmas my siblings and I want to buy our mom a laptop computer. We have setup downstairs a comp with parts which I throw away after upgrading (Athlon 2200+ etc...) and its all fine and good but she wants mobility. She only needs it for word processing and maybe some photos but really the bare minimum. So, our budget is rather small (sub 1000 preferably around 700~ if possible). Does anyone know any laptops that fit this criteria?

thanks, do u have any links to benchmarks of the different mobile processors as Im not sure how they match up... I wish I had the money for a voodoo lol. The review done in Maximum PC showed that it was faster than my desktop

Well, since she wont be gaming at all, make sure you get integrated graphics, 512MB of ram, a Intel processor will be better for her since she will be mostly mulittasking.

but if she likes to watch videos, edit em, and edit images...better get some non-intergrated graphics

ATI mobility Radeon X300 or up would be nice

Check out WinBook for a decent lappy at a good price.
