the reason i haven't been able to choose is because of the following differences..

1) gateway has more ram, faster cpu (200mhz faster), and bigger hard drive. it has dvdrw while the compaq only has a combo drive. but the gateway is also $50 more.
2) the compaq looks tiny!!! i love that!! thats pretty much it.

so for $50 i can upgrade the ram of the compaq to match that of the gateway.. or for a bit more, make it 768mb of ram. that would make the prices the same. the only difference now is:

-faster cpu : would i really feel the difference? 200mhz..
-dvd-rw: i don't burn that many cds, let alone dvds..
-bigger screen: meh.. i'd prefer the smaller size laptop..

so anyways... yes the gateway is better.. but considering my needs.. what should i get?!?!
