Default Installing 2nd hard drive

Hi guys I have just installed my second hard drive on my pc but it does not show on My Computer. Basically I connected the extra plug from the 1st HD to the 2nd HD. Then I used this red thin wire to connect the HD to motherboard, just like the 1st HD. In device manager under disk drives I see:

st3320620as ata device
st3500320as ata device

When I turned on my pc something came up on the taskbar saying "your new device is installed...."

What else should I do guys to get this up and running?

I have this by the way:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 3.5IN 500GB SATA2 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive - DirectCanada

That's good. Now you just need to format the hard drive.

Start>Run>"compmgmt.msc"
Under Storage>Disk Managment>Right click on the new drives partition and format it to NTFS.

In Computer managemenr>Disk management I see my new HD 465.76GB as Unallocated and when I right click it I get "New Simple Volume". When you say format does that mean I have to install Vista again? Will it effect my 320GB primary HD? All I want to do is have more space on my current OS.

If you just format the new drive, it will not effect anything on the current drive, like your Vista.

No, when I say format, I mean to turned that Unallocated space into a recognizable space for Windows to use. No reinstallation of windows is needed. Read this:Upgrading Your PC: Partition and Format Your New Hard Drive by McGraw-Hill: Yahoo! Tech
