Default Input needed please on custom system

Hello!

First time poster Seems like you all got a nice forum going on here so I thought perhaps I could get some input/help from some of you and maybe even offer some assistance to others

I had plan to get a computer to handle regular "office" tasks along with some gaming. I am not looking for a "high-tech" gaming machine but I want a robust one able to play games for a few years to come. Anyway, these are the parts I picked out so far which according to me add up to a rather nice piece of machinery for a relatively low cost.

As a sidenote, I know the speakers and soundcard can be upgraded however there is no priority of this from my side, they are really of no concern aslong as I am able to get decent audio.

Specifications:
(revised, new motherboard, cpu & memory)

Case
Apevia Black X-Cruiser Case ATX Mid-Tower Case

Power Supply
HEC Orion Power 585watt

Motherboard
MSI K9NU Neo-V NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motheboard

Processor
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Socket AM2 BOX CPU - Windsor

Memoryx2
US Modular 1024MB PC3200 DDR2 400MHz Memory

Hard Drive
Hitachi 7K160 160GB

CD/DVD
Lite-on Super Allwrite SHM-165H6S CD/DVD-RW

Video Card
DiabloTek Radeon X700 Super 512MB

Sound Card
N/A (Integrated)

Network Card
N/A (Integrated Ethernet Port)

Speakers
Cyber Acoustics CA-2016

Monitor
N/A

I already possess a monitor, keyboard and mouse I wish to use with my new configuration. Any inputs/suggestions other than that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

OK. Why a micro board? You have a full size case. Micros work, but run hotter due to airflow restrictions brought about by their size.

One gig is fine, but unless you plan on getting another one you'd be better off going with 2 X 512MB in dual channel.

I dunno about that graphics card. ATI is fine, but the X700 from an off-the-wall manufacturer... but, then, I really don't know who does ATI.

I'd recommend an NVIDIA chipset motherboard, either an nForce4 or an nForce4-Ultra:

and maybe a eVGA 7600 GT:

Sorry about the memory, I meant 2 gig, I forgot to add the x2 there

I always stuck with ATI, my GeForce experiences in comparison to ATI is were not too great. I evaluated a couple of cards in the past and ATI always seemed to get better results.

Problem with the motherboard is I am not exactly interested in throwing away money for integrated graphics when I will only end up disabling them in order to use my video-card. However you are right about the mini format, I will check out the links you provided.

Thanks for your input!
