Default Impact of Video RAM on larger monitors

I recently purchased a 20" wide screen monitor. Would my performance be dramatically increased with a card of 512 MB rather than 256? If it is, is it because of the monitor size, or just because of the extra video RAM?

Alrighty then, a big difference between a x1950 256MB and a x1950 512MB?

No there won't be, It depends on the resolution you're running at though, not the size of the monitor. Now granted, usually there is a higher resolution on a larger monitor, but not always. And, there will be more memory usage, but not enough to make a difference.

256 should be fine, although in games 512 should give you a better performance, but that's obvious

Agreed with snake.

Like a 512mb would serve better on a resolution like 1600x1200 or higher, than a 256mb would.
