well to me personally, id think u should upgrade ur ata HD to a SATAII then RAM

SATAII wont be any faster than an ATA-100 drive as their limited by the drive and not the interface.

I agree with pzerofgh that 2 gig is nesscary for multimedia and gaming now.

Go for the RAM, the 6800GT will do you fine until the DX10 cards hit next year. I would skip the 7800/R520 generation...because their reign will be very short.

i heard the 8xxx series isnt comming out untill next year... that's awhile to wait. but 48 pipelines is what i heard

Thats what i am going to do, pick up a gig of ram. Then get the nest gen graphics card, when it comes out. I also heard the 8 series is coming out, like next year...
