I would go the AMD route.

I would get a new Mobo and use the Athlon X2 6000.

Default My $1500 dream build.

It includes everything down to mouse & keyboard. The build is constructed around an E6600 and an 8800GTS, so it was pretty tight; I had to save money on other parts (case for instance) to keep it in budget.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz - $316
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Intel P965 - $125.99
Memory: G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800 CL5 - $184.99
Video Card: eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB - $409.99
Power Supply: Hiper HPU-4K530-MS 530W - $79.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 320GB Sata 3.0Gb/s - $89.99
DVD Drive: Samsung 18X DVD+/-R w/ LightScribe - $29.99
Monitor: Sceptre X9WG-NagaV 19" 1440x900 - $179.99
Case: Xion Solaris XON-406 Black - $39.99
Keyboard: Logitech Black Keyboard & PS/2 Mouse - $13.85
Mouse: (Included in combo above) - $0
Speakers: Logitech S200 2.1 black - $19.99

Total: $1490.76 + Shipping

What do you think?

SuperPi 1M: 29.6s - 3DMark06: 8616
The Geek Test v3.1 Score: 36.3% - Major Geek

Nice build Meithan.

However, I actually use my computer, and a good mouse and keyboard (wireless) is essential. Personally, I would've gotten a E6300 and used the extra cash for a wireless.

EDIT: Found a wireless mouse/keyboard set, but it looks like...gay?
Yeah...$8.50 for a wireless keyboard and mouse, makes you wonder?
