Which is overall better for a hard drive? I've never used SATA before so any info is useful

Notice! The motherboard has to support SATA or you will have to buy a seperate SATA controller.

you can buy a card (ex pci)

or a lilttle converter that you plug into the ide pins ON the drive

Your choice...

BUT most boards have sata these days...

SATA is better.

However make sure you have your motherboards SATA drivers handy on floppy disk before fromating your computer.

BUT most boards have sata these days...

Don't remind me about that.

If only I purchase my current motherboad one week later, i would of had SATA.

SATA 2 (SATA II) has increased the theoretical max. speed to 300MB/Sec and had NCQ for supported drives. NCQ is native command queing. It means if the cpu makes request A, B, C, D, E it will do it in the order C, A, E, D, B if it is more efficient.

Sata is the new version of IDE

You dont always want new stuff but in this case you do...
