Please guys, can you tell me what I need to build a network using my laptop as a nodal point.

Exactly, I need to know what is needed to build a small peer-to-peer network. Like I said before: computer boxes, power sources and etc. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

get two computers together and plug them together with a crossover cable.

All this other stuff your asking makes no sense. Do you want to know what parts are needed to build the computers that are going to be on the network?
