No, you can mix and match rams of different speeds..the performance of your ram will be determined by the slowest module you have installed.
 
depends, what new rtam are you getting, if you get hold of similar ram, then its best, if not, then at least match the latencies of the memory, then you'll be able to use any manufacturer's and any amount.
 
Companys like Crucial or Corsair have "configurators" that you plug in the information about your computer/motherboard and they will list the RAM that they have tested and are known to be compatible with your machine.
 
Thanks for the info i guys. I only have 128mb of ram now and am going to add 265mb. Do u think that'll be enough to run windows xp and 3 other programs like music?
