How to make SATA Harddrive work?

Hi everyone!

Well, first I would like to say a big thank you for everyone who helped me to build my first computer. It is up and running and everything is working well. So thank you so much again.

I am not sure how to make the Maxtor SATA 200GB Harddrive work. I am using a Maxtor 120GB ATA HD as the boot drive with the XP PRO OS.

I have plugged in the SATA before I installed the OS. It shows up under Device Manager, but not in My Computers.

I feel kind of confused because the MOBO Manual talks about RAID and I do not understand that at all and I think it will not work on RAID because I do not have 2 SATA HD's.

Maxtor Manual says follow the MOBO Manual.

I also read somewhere I must install a special driver.

Well, someone told me when I update XP PRO to SP2, it would automatically work. It is not working.

Can anyone help me please?

If it's not showing up in My Computer, than you have format it.

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management > look for your storage drive...right click and select format.
