Default how to format sata hardrive?

how do u format a hard drive...the hd is noticed by device manager but its not on my computer...its a new hd so i need to format it but how?

Pentium 4 630 (3.0ghz)
1 gb PNY DDR2700
ATI 9600XT 128 mb
Hitachi 160 gb
ABIT AS8 Socket T (LGA 775)

Well you can do it by loading up your OS disk before the OS loads and hitting F6 when it asks, then follow from there.

You can go to Control Panel / Admin Tools / Computer Management / Disk Management (on left side of window)

then select the drive at the bottom and format it. This is how I always do mine.
