Default How do you see if your AGP slot is 8x/4x

I am interested in buying a new graphics card for my AGP slot motherboard. However, my friend's dad has built computers for his sons, and he said that there is different speeds to your AGP slot (either 8x or 4x). I am not very good with computers, but I am not terrible with them. I've been looking in Device Manager on Windows XP, but with no luck. I thought you guys might know, and would appreciate it if you replied.

BTW, I have Windows XP Home Edition, in case that matters.

Most modern cards are 4X/8X compatible anyways, but you can always google CPU-Z, download that, and it should tell you.
