Default how do you boot up in safe mode

like the title says but it is on an hp I tried everything I can't get it, it doesn't tell you how either on start up I even ripped the power cord out when it was started up and that didn't even do the trick.

What operating system? Try F8 on boot up. Or with XP go to start/run..type "msconfig". Go to "boot.ini" and select "safeboot"
