How do I install an extra hard drive in my computer?

Hi everyone!

Can someone help me to understand how to install an extra harddrive in my computer?

I just purchased a 1TB Maxtor SATA II/300 Internal Hard drive Kit. I have 2 more SATA slots available on my mother board and have several of the special SATA powerplugs available on from my power supply.

I do know how to mount the drive, plug in the SATA cable, and the power cable, but I am not sure how to then find the drive, format the drive, etc.

I really would like to avoid messin' anything up on my existing system because it is working flawlessly.

Can someone help me please?

completely unplug everything
install harddrive
install power and sata cord
turn on computer

look in your 'my computer' and the drive will be after your first harddrive, waiting for you to play with it
