Actually, if you have a copy of OEM XP, you can use your disk along with her serial code. It's the code that's important... the source of Windows isn't.

You can uncheck everything in MSCONFIG's startup tab except for the things that are absolutely needed (AV, firewall). Click Apply and reboot.

And get rid of the QuickLaunch crap. They slow down a system as well. Set her up ObjectDock or RocketDock instead.
