Help me Upgrade my computer!

Hello first time poster here. Been awhile and time to upgrade my computer into a gaming beast!

Currently I have :
OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Mother: XFX XFX Nforce 680i LT 1
Processor : 3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
4096 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded
Bus Clock: 333 megahertz

RAM: 2gig

Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS

Power supply: Thermal Take 850w black widow
Sound card: Realtek

I think for the video card Im going the GTS 260 896mg card but other than that not sure. So any suggestions.

RAM is cheap and constantly getting faster.

Yup, new video card and an upgrade to 4GB of RAM would be the best upgrades for you if you're wanting to improve your comp gaming-wise.

You mentioned the GTX260 as a possible card, this would be a great idea for you seeing as your motherboard can do multi-GPU; you can get the 260 and then use your old 8800GS as a PhysX card.

sounds Gret will most likely be getting the stuff today. Any guides on how to use my old 8800gs as a physx card and will that cause any stability issues

You should also consider overclocking that e6850 a bit (it usually goes upwards of 3.5ghz easily..) Good luck!
