Hi,
I'm a Newbie at building computers and this is my first build. I was hoping to get some help or improvement on this selection of parts from Newegg. I would like suggestions, comments, or maybe a heads up if I missed some compatibility issues. I only wish to spend $850 and if it could drop to 700 that'd be great. I plan to use this system for school, basic workstation functions, and some mild gaming. Thanks in advance for your help!
Here is the link:

I also made a separate build and I was wondering if this one was better:

Thanks for the suggestions, but the reason I got that graphics card was because it had D-Sub. And the motherboard had firewire, same with case. Thanks though.

the gfx card i listed comes with a dvi-to-vga adapter.

d-sub = vga, so that wouldnt be a problem.

and the mobo i listed does have firewire, it has 2 ports in the back

this is the mobo i had listed
GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification

if you scroll down you will find this
IEEE 1394 T.I. TSB43AB23 chip

1. Up to 3 IEEE 1394a ports (2 on the back panel, 1 via the IEEE 1394a bracket connected to the internal IEEE 1394a headers)

ieee 1394a = firewire

you can get whatever you prefer, just dont get that apevia case that comes with a psu.
