Help me with a new pc please

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a new computer, or build one, or upgrade?
I'm trying to stay in a price range around $520.

I want it mostly for video/hd and some editing.

My computer now is a 6 year old Dell dimension 3000.

I was looking for upgrading my parts, but for the cost I figured why not just get a new one.

So whats the best comp for the price range?

yea that dell dim 3000 is a piece of crap. wouldn't be wise to spend any money upgrading it really, but you could probably reuse its optical drive and hdd along with a whole new build.

you could buy a pre-built one, but almost always you will get the most for your money by building it youself if you're up to it.

if you do decide to build, we can help you with the parts. we need to know what else you're planning to buy with your budget though, like is that budget just for parts for the tower? or does it also include a monitor and other peripherals? OS too?
 
Hey, thanks Muffin Man.

I would pretty much need everything (the tower and insides), except for keyboard and mouse. I guess I could reuse my monitor, but a widescreen one would be nice.

Right now my optical drive is only a cd/rw, and my hd is 80G.
