I'm running (well i WAS) vista home premium 64 on a 2nd partition in my gaming rig and had no issues other than trying to run 3 video cards (2 nvidia 1 ati) at the same time.

Do you think the mem usage of 64 bit would hamper the ability of the computer?

vista 64 doesnt "use" anymore memory than the 32 bit version would. 64 bit OSes can actually see more than 3gb of system memory.
